VIFA-3 Black Wraiths Squadron

The Black Wraiths are an outgrowth of the VMFA-235 Death Angels game and are part of the UNSM & UNI Campaign.

Welcome to the VIFA-3 Black Wraiths

“With the disbanding of the MEU-13 due to the tragic turn of events in the war for Eskar III, the former pilots of the Death Angels have been transferred to a newly created, joint ops UN Intelligence squad composed of a diverse membership tasked with the search and capture (or destruction) of the enigmatic Sultan and the Sector 7 Space Pirates.”

Squadron Background

The Black Wraiths Squadron is an elite mixed force unit operating from the UN Intelligence and UN Marine base that has been recently established on LV-426. The squadron operates under the direct command of UN Intelligence and is tasked with the search for and termination of the Sector Seven Space Pirates and their enigmatic leader. During the few times that UN Armed Forces personnel have met elements of the Sector Seven Space Pirates, the UN has always left after being damaged and the pirates able to leave with little, if any, damage being incurred. Due to their unorthodox methods, use of original, and highly deadly equipment, their association with the Anti-UN and their access to classified UN Armed Forces and UN Government information via an unknown number of moles, the UNI has placed the Sector Seven Space Pirates at the top of its most wanted listed. Their elimination or if possible, destruction, are the prime reason for the creation of the Black Wraiths squadron.

The squadron is composed of former members of the Marine Aviation Squad: the Death Angels and the UN Spacy Squad: the Zero-Gs. The two squads operated together in a mixed squadron for a few months. During that period, they faced elements of the Sector Seven Space Pirates and are considered to have the most experience in dealing with them. The squad has been rounded out by various members of different branches of the UN Armed Forces that have a variety of different abilities inclusive of: Spiritia Warfare, hand to hand and ground combat expertise and Science. The UNI views the Black Wraiths as ready and capable as any squad could be in the short period of time that they have allotted themselves in preparation for going on the hunt.

The squadron usually pilots the Micron Power Armour Mk 3.09 and the General Galaxy VF-22 Sturmvogel II. These are very powerful, rare and expensive vehicles from the UN Armed Forces arsenal. However, it is viewed that these vehicles may be, at most, only a match for the forces that they are up against.

The surviving members of the Death Angels squad have been transferred to a newly created Special Forces squadron under the direct control of UN Intelligence: the VIFA-3 Black Wraiths. The squad is to be staffed with a variety of different VF trained aviators from different branches of the UN Armed Forces. They are tasked with one main objective: the hunting and capture, or destruction, of the enigmatic Sultan and the space pirates, terrorist and Anti-UN groups that are aligned or operate in coercion with her.

The campaign is intended to be equal parts VF combat, ground combat and character interaction. The game is the conclusion of the Sultan (Protodevlin!?!) story arc. Expect high-octane action, intense pathos and lethal combat.

Joining

I like to have a large amount of character interaction in my games. As such, prospective players should be good writers that play off of the details provided by other players and the GM. If I am unfamiliar with your work, I will ask for both a referral and the completion of a short test.

In addition, there are certain obligations and restrictions attributed to playing in the Black Wraiths. The obligations are that the player promises to post on a twice-a-week basis and others, as outlined elsewhere amongst the links provided below. The restrictions in joining are usually, but not limited to, having to wait until a suitable time in the story to join. (Example: if the squad is in the midst of a top-secret mission, the new player must wait until the squad has returned from the mission.)

The joining process:

Interested players are to PM the GM and ask if they can join the squadron.
