The GBP-1S equipped VF-1 is improved armour and armaments that are attached to a standard BF-1. The GBP-1S provides the VF-1 roughly double its normal armour and an almost mind-boggling amount of missiles. However, while the VF-1 is in the ground-combat protect system, it is locked in Battroid mode and cannot transform. The Armor can be jettisoned if circumstances need it.

The GBP-1S was developed during on the SDF-1 during its return trip to Earth from Pluto and first saw service in October, 2009. The GBP-1S served with distinction, shoulder to shoulder with the SDF-1’s remaining Destroids and VF-1s during the final assault on Bodolza’s Capital Ship.

During the initial stages of the reconstruction, GBP-1S equipped VF-1s were used in the roles that were normally reserved for Destroids. Once Destroid production resumed, GBP-1S equipped VF-1s were returned to their standard capital ship protection duties – a space based role that Destroids performed poorly at due to their lack of maneuvering thrusters. Until the armour protect system of the VF-11 was deployed in the fleet, the GBP-1S was used extensively and many of the VF-1s that remained after the fleet conversion to the VF-4 were pressed into GBP-1S duty.

The GBP-1S is still in use in the 2050’s era UNS fleet, however they are mostly relegated to UN-Guard and training units.

Stats for the VF-1 are used (the only optional wing missile load-out are 12 AIM-1 type missiles) with the following additions and changes:

MDC BY LOCATION:

Location MDC
Arms (2)
Legs/Thrusters (2)
Main Body
Shoulder Missile Pod (2)
Assist Thrusters¹ (2)
100 each
150 each
325
125
150 each

NOTES:

Destroying the MDC of any of the GBP-1S’s systems will destroy the missile launching mechanism contained within that system. The best option at this point is for the pilot to eject the affected system(s).
¹Destroying 1 assist thruster will cut the GBP-1S’s top speed in ½. Destroying both will reduce the top speed to 480 Kmph (the VF-1’s standard top speed in battroid mode) in space.

SPEEDS:

  • RUNNING, SOLDIER CONFIGURATION: 50 mph (80 Kmph)
  • LEAPING, SOLDIER CONFIGURATION: 15 ft (4.5 m) high or 25 ft (7.6 m) long without thrusters.
  • FLYING, SOLDIER CONFIGURATION: Mach 2.71+ (1816 mph/1135 Kmph) in space. 0 - 312 mph (0 - 500 Kmph) maximum speed limit in an Earth-like atmosphere. Max hovering time: 420 seconds. Note: cannot fly in an atmosphere without the use of the two assist thrusters.

STATISTICAL DATA:

  • HEIGHT: 42.6 ft (13 m).
  • WIDTH: 16 ft (4.87 m) at shoulders.
  • WEIGHT: with 16200-kg GBP-1S system - 37100 kg

ADDITIONAL POWER PLANT: Shinnakasu Heavy Industry GBP-1S ground-combat protector weapon system with two assist thrusters.

COMPATIBLE FAST PACKS:

  • NONE.

  • RATE OF FIRE: One at a time.
  • PAYLOAD: 6.

COMBAT BONUS MODIFIERS Due to the restrictions on the VF-1’s maneuverability, the GBP-1S equipped VF-1 is –1 dodge and –1 roll with punch/fall or impact in an atmosphere. However, these negative modifiers are countered in space by maneuvering thrusters mounted on the GBP-1S system and the VF-1 inside.
