I may not be on much the next few days. We have four inches (10.2 cm) of snow. Here in Texas, that is an emergency situation. Literally. It was declared a State Of Emergency by the President Of The United States. The power goes out a lot. Cellphone towers cease functioning. The internet is down often and when it is up, it runs at (I measured it) 9KB/S. We are not equipped to handle a natural disaster of this magnitude.

My power went out shortly after I had written that.

I got tired of resetting my clock, so I went out to get 9-Volt batteries for the back-up. Wal-Mart said that they are not allowed to let anyone in to the superstore as long as this weather persists. People had better have their supplies stocked in advance. I had to go to three places before I found batteries of that size. I bought a new clock to go with it. And that new clock? It used Triple A's.

As of last night, they began rolling blackouts. We get 40 minutes of power and one hour of no power, cyclically. It gets very cold, very fast. I spend that time underneath three comforters and trying to Double-S Rank all of the missions in the PS Vita Macross game.

Sounds very cold. Has there been any sightings of imperial walkers on the north ridge yet? That's when you know its bad.

There was an old lady with a walker. Does that count?

How goes the frozen south? Are you still on rolling power outages and in a state of emergency?

Power is starting to stay up more than it is off. But now all of the water is contaminated because the treatment plants went down from lack of power. So, we can't use it for eating, drinking, cleaning, bathing, and the like.

It is not so bad. It mostly irritates my mild OCD. It is supposed to be back to normal by Sunday, though.

It could be worse. You're still doing better than we did when we got hit by Sandy.

Indeed. That was rough from what I had heard. Maybe if someone had thought to drop a nuke on that hurricane...

Do you have access to clean water? I hear that is an ongoing problem in TX right now.

I had plenty of bottled water. They just lifted the contamination warning a little bit ago. So, we are good here now, thanks.

Yep! All good here. And it is 76 degrees (24 C) outside. The only issue that I am having right now is that my seventeen year old dog won't get her lazy butt up to go outside and play with me.

I got the vaccine yesterday. Vaccines make me sleep for days and then be brain dead for a while afterward. They always have. My mother said that once she figured that out when I was little, she would make my doctors' appointments for first thing in the morning and then have parent-free time. Anyway, I am not going to write for a couple of days. It is too hard to form a coherent thought. I started writing this ten minutes ago. I am going to go stare at a wall and drool or something.

You're mom sounds like a smart lady.

If you drool, remember to hydrate.

My pups fell down and broke a rib. At her age (one month from 19), her body can't mend bone anymore. She has plenty of pain and nerve blockers to keep her from feeling it right now. Even so, I had to make an appointment on Monday to have her put down. This is just a head's up that I won't be around for a few days. I want to spend as much time with my goodest girl as I can before the end.
