Redirect to the: MRC Canon VF-1 Stats

This work is largely the authors own interpretation based on information from the Macross compendium, pre-existing stats, game-play and the authors translations of pertinent materials. See the references section(s) for details. The author advises the reader to confirm with his or her GM which stats are used in the reader’s game.

Stonewell Bellcom VF-1 Valkyrie

The following is by no-means meant to be all encompassing. The following are MRC specific MODIFICATIONS to stats that are preexisting. Note that the following should not be taken as canon. The following is an extrapolation and speculation from canon materials.

BACKGROUND http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/sdfmacross/vf-1a-battroid.jpg

The VF-1 Valkyrie is widely regarded as the most popular variable fighter ever made. It is also one of the most prolific. Between 2009 and 2015 over six thousand Valkyries were constructed, and even in 2040 roughly 30% of these fighters still remain in service with reserve fleets, militias, and frontier colonies – albeit in modified and/or upgraded forms.

Design work on the first variable fighter of the United Nations forces began February 2002. The mass production of the fully operational VF-1A began in November 2007. The first VF-1A's, (limited to fighter mode only,) were deployed to the CVS-101 Prometheus in August 2008. The VF-1 Valkyrie, (fully transformable,) was next shipped as a priority to the SDF-1 Macross, with 212 VF-1's being assigned to the vessel by its initiation ceremony on the 1st of February 2009. The first operational deployment was in Space War I's Battle of South Ataria Island the same day.

The GBP-1S Protect-Weapon-System for the VF-1 Valkyrie, an armoured add on package for the VF-1, first saw service in October 2009. The first FAST Pack equipped Valkyrie entered combat in January 2010.

Production of the VF-1 resumed after Space War I at surviving parts plants in the space colonies and on the Lunar surface's Apollo Base from August 2011. At the end of the year 2015, production of the VF-1 series ended mass production with the rollout of the final VF-1 in a commemorative ceremony. The VF-1 Valkyrie was replaced by the VF-4 Lightning III in 2020.

NOTES:

¹ Destroying the head of the fighter will knock out the mecha's major sensor systems, including all of the optics systems (infrared, nightvision, thermal). Radar and communications will be unaffected.
² Depleting the MDC of the main body will destroy the mecha. The pilot and cockpit section/escape pod will be automatically ejected from the doomed mecha before it explodes by the mecha's main computer.
³ 150 MDC only in battroid mode and/or when the blast shield is lowered over the cockpit. Otherwise, 50 MDC for the canopy and 100 MDC for the remainder of the cockpit. Requires a called shot to hit the canopy.
º 300 MDC is a general listing for ease of use. For stats more reflective of the minor variations in the VF-1, one could use the following: VF-1A: 260, VF-1B: 260, VF-1D: 275, VF-1J: 275, VF-1S: 300, VT-1: 340, VE-1: 300.

WEAPON SYSTEMS:

1. MAULER RÖV-20 ANTI-AIRCRAFT LASER CANNON/S:

Mounted on the head when in Soldier mode, but located on the underbelly when in Gerwalk and Fighter mode. In battroid, the lasers have a 360º horizontal rotation and a 90º vertical arc of fire. In jet mode, the RÖV-20 is limited to firing only on targets directly in front of the VF-1. The thermonuclear engines provide the same amount of power to the RÖV-20 for every VF-1 design. However, due to the design differences between the VF-1 models, the performance of the RÖV-20 is largely the same in each variation of the VF-1. Note that the VF-1A has a single laser, VF-1J has two lasers and the VF-1B and VF-1S have four lasers.

  • PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
  • SECONDARY PURPOSE: Defense
  • RANGE: 2000 feet (600 m)
  • DAMAGE: VF-1A: 1D6x5, VF-1D & VF-1J: 1D4x10-5 MD. VF-1B, VF-1S: 5D10.
http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/dyrl/vf-1s-strike-battroid.jpg
  • RATE OF FIRE: Effectively Unlimited.
  • PAYLOAD: Effectively Unlimited.

2. AMM-1 HYBRID GUIDED MULTIPURPOSE MEDIUM-RANGE MEDIUM-WARHEAD MISSILES:

The VF-1 Valkyrie is designed with two hard points per wing, for a total of four hard points. Each hardpoint is capable of carrying three AMM-1 Missiles for a total of 12 missiles.

  • PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defense
  • RANGE: 80 miles
  • DAMAGE: 2D12x10 M.D.
  • RATE OF FIRE: One or two at a time.
  • PAYLOAD: 3 per hardpoint. Total of 12.

3. UUM-7 MICRO-MISSILE PODS:

The four hardpoints of the VF-1 Valkyrie can each carry UUM-7 Micro-missiles pods each carrying a total of fifteen Bifors HMM-01 micro-missiles each.

4. GU-11 55mm TRI-BARREL GUN POD:

The standard issue armament for VF-1 Valkyrie Variable Fighter. Mechanically preset to fire in burst of either 10 or 25 rounds, or until the pilot releases the trigger or the magazine is emptied.

  • PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault/Defense
  • RANGE: 4000 ft (1200 m)
http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/dyrl/vf-1a-super-fighter.JPG
  • DAMAGE: 1D6 per round. 10 round burst, single target – 1D6X10 MD. 25 round burst, single target – 2D6X10 MD. Note, for bursts using greater then 25 rounds, increase the damage by a scale of 1D6X10 per 10 rounds OR refer to the modern weapons rules for machineguns.
  • The Gun Pod can be used for sprays: 10 round spray – 1D6 MD, affects 1d4 targets. 25 round burst spray – 1D6 MD, affects 2d4 targets with a 50% chance of hitting bystanders. Longer duration sprays (up to limits of the magazine): 2D4 MD, affects 4d4 targets. Chance of hitting bystanders is 70%.
  • RATE OF FIRE: Equal to the pilot's combined number of attacks. Note that firing of the GU-11 isn't limited to only 10, 25 or 200 rounds. Any variation can be fired (it is recommended to stick to multiples of 10 for ease of damage resolution.)
  • PAYLOAD: 200 rounds. Note: The GU-11 CANNOT be reloaded in the field.

5. RMS-1 REACTION CRUISE MISSILES:

The standard wing-mounted missiles of the Valkyrie can be replaced with reaction cruise missiles. Three missiles can be mounted on each wing, for a total of six per Valkyrie. The missiles are AI-guided, thus they receive a bonus of +5 to strike, +4 to dodge and have two attacks per melee until it hits. The missiles will always strike the center (or main body) of their target.

http://www.steelfalcon.com/Macross/Images/rms1missiles.gif
  • PRIMARY PURPOSE: Anti-Spacecraft
  • RANGE: 500 miles (804 km)
  • MISSILE SPEED: 670 mph (Mach 1)
  • M.D.C. OF MISSILE: 25
  • DAMAGE: 4D8x1,000 M.D. at ground zero. Reduce damage by a factor of 10 for every 2,500ft (750m) the object is away from ground zero. (i.e. 4D8x100 M.D. at 2,500ft distant, 4D8x10 M.D. at 5,000ft distant, etc.)
  • RATE OF FIRE: Volleys of 1-5 or All.

6. MK-82 LDGB CONVENTIONAL BOMBS:

As these must have a laser-targeting indicator marking the target to work properly, the GM may consider them to act as regular, unguided bombs without the laser indicator marking the target.

  • PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assault
  • RANGE: Freefall Laser guided bomb
  • DAMAGE: 4D6x10 M.D. per bomb
  • RATE OF FIRE: 1 at a time or all 12 in a single volley
  • PAYLOAD: 3 per hardpoint, total 12
http://www.mahq.net/mecha/macross/dyrl/vf-1s-strike-gerwalk.jpg

7. CHAFF/FLARE DISPENSERS:

Available in all modes. When used, they fire off a burst of chaff and/or flare to counter any incoming missiles. The burst of chaff and/or flares give a bonus of +3 to Dodge against the missiles.

  • VFs carry a total of 10 bursts of chaff/flares.

8. HAND TO HAND COMBAT:

If necessary, the pilot of the Valkyrie can engage in melee combat rather than use a weapon. The Valkyrie is extremely agile and can execute most typical hand to hand combat moves, such as punches, jump kicks, leap attacks, rolling with impacts, etc.

DAMAGE:

  • Restrained Punch: 1D4 M.D.
  • Full Strength Punch: 4D6 M.D.
  • "Booster" Punch: 6D6 M.D. (counts as two attacks)
  • Tear or Pry with Hands: 1D6 M.D. + additional ripping and frame damages.
  • Kick: 4D6 M.D.
  • Leap Kick: 2D6x10 M.D.
  • Body Flip/Throw: 2D6 M.D.
  • Body Block/Tackle: 1D6 M.D.
  • Stomp: 1D6x10 M.D. (only effective against small objects) Note that for some objects, they will be instantly destroyed.
