Brief Physical Description: Tall, muscular and fit, Dekker is nonetheless graceful; epitomizing the Jedi way of smoothness and economy of motion. Attitude: It has been taught that a Jedi Knight does not crave adventure. This couldn’t be farther from the truth is Dekker’s case. An explorer at heart with a keen interest in working at the limits of Republic space and beyond, Dekker has relentlessly pursued the Jedi Council into investing more resources into exploration and expansion, seeking out new worlds and allies; all of which will enrich the economies and lives of the citizens of the Galactic Republic.

Background:Dekker has had the rare experience of being trained by his own father for a time and as such, he has never known the isolation that typical young Padawans first experience; Dekker’s mother and father do not live as husband and wife but came together for reasons of compatibility and attraction, but also with the intent of producing another generation of Jedi. It was agreed that they would have children, but that in all matters regarding those children, the Jedi Council would have the final say. Dekker trained under his own father for many years but was also assigned to another Master to complete his training at age 10. He knows who both of his parents are, but doesn’t know them as Mom and Dad.
Dekker is an accomplished pilot and combined with extensive training, he has been acting as a ‘troubleshooter’ flying to and from various worlds at the request of the Jedi Council seeking dialogue and diplomacy whenever possible and using more direct methods when required. Long term assignments in the past have been with ExploraCorp, where Dekker was fortunate enough to be assigned as protection and advisor on a number of missions, spanning several years. This allowed him to whet his appetite to explore as well as having time to dedicate to his lightsaber form. Dekker’s devotion to the Force and the Republic is balanced and he expresses his martial ability in the mastery of the lightsaber, dedicated to
Juyo, the aggressive Form VII of a single blade, which he can use equally well with either hand.
Years ago, when he was a newly elevated Knight, Dekker had made it clear that he would choose to pursue lightsaber form Mastery first before taking on a Padawan and as such he has also deftly managed to avoid the cumbersome task taking on a Padawan; something that he felt he was too young and lacked the temperament for. His own father, as well as his good friend and fellow Jedi, Tarl Fai’den have suggested that Dekker’s desire for adventure and his unwillingness to foster a Padawan is selfish and selfishness is a path to the Dark Side, a dangerous temptation considering his choice of lightsaber form Dekker doesn’t see it this way of course, merely feeling that a Padawan would slow him down in the short term. He merely wanted to focus on achieving
Juyo Mastery first and then he would return to the Temple, by then his temperament and disposition would have matured, making him a better teacher. He currently resides at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant where he serves as a lightsaber instructor for advanced students and also continues his own training and development; this time learning patience and the time-honoured art of teaching.
