Re: Gerhard's Status
It's that time of year again... New York Comic Con!
I'm working all four days, starting tomorrow (10/4) through Sunday.
I might have wifi at the con, so you might see me popping on as usual, but I probably won't be able to reply.
I will be home each night, but I'll probably have just enough energy for a shower and to crawl into bed.

It is has been super-slow lately. You probably won't miss anything. So feel free to expend your energy at the Con. Enjoy.

Re: Gerhard's Status
It’s that time of the year again. PAX Unplugged, 2nd Ed. is this weekend in Philly and I’ll be there with my Enforcer brothers & sisters working to make it a great show.
Last year was pretty laidback so chances are I’d be able to post a reply to any of the threads, but just a heads up in case (maybe I’ll actually have the energy to try out some new games).

Re: Gerhard's Status
It used to be winter and summer, but Unplugged kind of encroaches on winter.
But I know a few Enforcers who go to all the US PAXes (AUS being really expensive to get to). That’s PAX South in January, PAX East at the tail end of March, PAX West in August and now Unplugged. Plus there are other shows people work during the year. I have one buddy, I don’t know what he does for a living, other than working at pretty much every con & show imaginable.
So it could be worse.

Once more into the Boston breach for PAX East!
I leave tomorrow morning (I should be sleeping), and might be around, depending on access.
I’ll return to my regular schedule of constant lurking late Monday/Tuesday.

Try not to get beat up by any Scorpions in Sneak Suits.
Re: Gerhard's Status
Have fun, Gerhard! We'll certainly miss you around while you're out having fun.
Let us know how it was, too! It's been forever since I've gotten to an actual con.

Back from Boston, but I might be delayed a little longer as our internet connection has decided to stop working. I have a repair person coming out tomorrow morning, and he’ll be able to fix things, hopefully.

Re: Gerhard's Status
Me too. I really wanted to get online tonight.
Strangest thing is, we have four cable boxes, all of them aren’t working, with the exception of the one in my folk’s room. That one is working perfectly fine, and it’s the furthest from
Where the cable enters the house and is split.

Re: Gerhard's Status
Not that I can tell, but nothing is labeled to well. I think one of the lines from the first splitter is used as the input for the second splitter. I’ve had those go bad in the past so I went out and bought two new ones and swapped them out. No joy. I did notice that the line coming into the house is sagging, but if it was that, you’d think everything would be out.
Re: Gerhard's Status
I'd say attenuation but for 1) it worked before and 2) I don't know enough about coaxial, I just know it isn't cat5. ^^;
It doesn't make sense unless there's a problem somewhere along the second line since you replaced the splitters already. Pets? seen any mice lately? Maybe there's a break? Or maybe the cable just can't hold signal anymore. *shrug*
Sucks either way.

Re: Gerhard's Status
I have that happen to me twice before.
Once, there were squirrels in the attic and they chewed through some of the wires.
The second time was an error on the cable company's side. The boxes had been disabled on their end. A phone was all that it took and they reactivated them.

Re: Gerhard's Status
Hey guys. Just a heads up. My father passed away this afternoon.
I wanted warn you in case I drop out for any reason.
It's... unreal? Maybe that's the best way to describe it. I feel I should be feeling more, but I'm not.
Maybe it hasn't really hit me yet... Or maybe I'm really just a horrible person. Damaged goods. I don't know.

That would be shock that causes the emotional numbness. It will wear off in time.

Re: Gerhard's Status
Just a heads up. Starting Thursday, I'll be down in Philly to Enforce at PAX Unplugged... and stuff my face with cheesesteaks.
Seeing as this is only the second live PAX since Covid, I'm expecting it to be pretty laid back, so I should have time to post, but just be aware.
And if you guys want me to pick anything up while I'm at the show, just let me know.
