Mass Effect RPG

This post is to gauge interest in a Mass Effect 1.5 RPG, using Cobalt’s very effective form.

Setting: Space age, faster than light travel to other system possible by various Mass Relays, floating creations in space that allow space craft to transverse systems. Various alien races are standard. As far as metaplot goes, the game is set after the attack by the Reaper on the citadel and two months after the death of Shepard on the Normandy.

In this case, Shepard sacrificed the council to rally to the defense of the citadel, and humans are almost universally considered usurpers. Also for the sake of lore, the Shepard in this timeline was male.

Turian

Originally from the planet Palaven, turians are best known for their military role, particularly their contributions of soldiers andstarships to the Citadel Fleet. They are respected for their 'public service' ethic - it was the turians who first proposed creating C-Sec- but are sometimes seen as imperialist or rigid by other races. There is some animosity between turians and humans, largely due to the turian role in the First Contact War. This bitterness is slowly beginning to heal - shown by the cooperation of the two races on the construction of the SSV Normandy - but many turians still hate humans, and vice versa.

Salarian

The second species to join the Citadel, the salarians are warm-blooded amphibians with a hyperactive metabolism; salarians think fast, talk fast, and move fast. To salarians, other species seem sluggish and dull-witted, especially the elcor. Unfortunately, their metabolic speed leaves them with a relatively short lifespan; salarians over the age of 40 are a rarity.
Salarians are known for their observational capability and non-linear thinking. This manifests as an aptitude for research and espionage. They are constantly experimenting and inventing, and it is generally accepted that they always know more than they are letting on.

Asarii

A mono-gender race—distinctly feminine in appearance—the asari are known for their elegance, diplomacy, and biotic talent. Their millennia-long lifespan and unique physiology - allowing them to reproduce with a partner of any gender or species - give them a conservative but convivial attitude toward other races. The asari were instrumental in proposing and founding the Citadel Council, and have been at the heart of galactic society ever since.

Krogan

The krogan are a species of large reptilian bipeds native to the planet Tuchanka, a world known for its harsh environments, scarce resources, and overabundance of vicious predators. The krogan managed to not only survive on their unforgiving homeworld, but actually thrived in the extreme conditions. Unfortunately, as krogan society became more technologically advanced so did their weaponry.

Brief Physical Description: Lien-Hua is a slinky beauty, with lithe curves and the grace of a cat. Her brows are thin and finely arched, her nose is softly curved, and her lower lip is slightly fuller than the upper.

Origin: Colonist

Attitude: Lien-Hua believes that the Council was holding humanity back and she fully supported Commander Shepherd’s decision not to risk Alliance lives and ships to save them, especially after they ignored his warnings about Saren, Sovereign, and the Reapers. She is not a specist but she does believe that the new human-dominated Council is more effective than the previous.

Background: Lien hated life on Eden Prime.

The moment she was old enough, she enlisted in the Alliance military and, after years of proving herself in skirmishes on the Verge against Batarian raiders and other pirate scum, she was accepted into the Special Forces program and was designated “N7”, the highest level of proficiency, just like her heroes that had come before her, Captain David Anderson and Commander John Shepherd.

She was on the Citadel when Commander Shepherd was elevated into the SpecTRe Corp but she did not reach him in time to ask to become a member of his crew. She shipped out aboard the SSV Shenyang, a cruiser attached to the Fifth Fleet under Admiral Hackett. Her ship participated in the Battle of the Citadel.

After Shepherd’s death, she sent a petition to the Human Councilor and requested admission into the SpecTRe Corps.

Brief Physical Description: Haruna, like so many of her Asari sisters is of a blue complexion with pale bluish-white markings on her face. She is of a slender build and very flexible as are all Asari and is in her Maiden stage of development.

Origin: Armali City, Thessia

Attitude: Haruna is young and restless. She decided that she would follow her mother’s path and train to become a huntress. She is duty bound but curious of the outside universe.

Background: Haruna, was born a child to a race that live for long periods of time, a fact that her mother expressed to her from an early age. As she grew, Haruna became aware of her natural occurring biotic abilities, and this moved her to train with the military to become a Huntress and follow in her mother’s footsteps. Trained in the use of various weapons and taught to use her biotic powers to her advantage, Haruna is often called on for special missions. This with her natural restlessness drives her to excel in her duties to her people. She longs, however, for the day she can travel to the stars and see the university.

Brief Physical Description: Eva is a tall human girl gifted with the gentle curves inherited from her mother. Her unruly mane of chestnut hair frame an oval face of finely chiseled features and emerald green eyes. Another courtesy of her mother is the little beauty spot that can be found below the right corner of her mouth.

Origin: L5 Space Station - Earth

Attitude: Eva is a tomboyish girl plagued by many negative points: she can be rash, loud spoken and never knows when to give up. As a result, she can often be found swearing at inanimate objects. However, she also has a profound respect for skills and professionalism, going as far as tuning down all of her negative traits to place herself under the direction of her seniors when the lives of others are at sake.

Background: Eva is a Spacer, through and through. She has been born and raised as one by her parents. Her cynical view on life and uncouth behavior probably comes from the fact they divorced when she was only little, and that the separation didn't go very well. Both tried to woe her over to their side and both ended up alienating her. Judgment placed her under her mother's care.
To run away from the misery of her daily life, she engrossed herself in her studies. She did not close any doors but eventually her tastes turned her toward science, electronics and computers. It even allowed her to get away from her mother as she went down Earthside to finish them in one of London's arcology.
From her stay on Earth, Eva would retain a few run-ins with the police as she took part in some illegal underground drone fighting. However, it would not stop her from ending at the top of her classes and signing a pretty interesting deal with Ariake Technologies to work as a Junior Staff on their new lines of Armors and Omni-tools.
