Got Spam?

Postby Xuric » Tue Oct 24, 2006 6:45 am

If you find your board, thread, or inbox with Spam, here is what you should (and should not) do.
  • Do: Contact someone: Your GM, Araruin, or Me.
  • Do Not: Post after that person. It makes tracing down new spam posts difficult.
If you are a GM, here's what to do with your junk:
If it is a new thread:
  • Click the Move Post (Arrow) button on the bottom-left of the view-topic page. Move the topic to the "Junkbox."
If it is a post in an existing thread:
  • Click on the link "You can moderate this forum."
  • Click on the thread in question.
  • Fill out the box "New Topic Title" with something relevant to the
  • situation (Usually I just put "Spam on <board> [abbreviated topic name]").
  • Select "Junkbox" from the "Forum for new topic" dropdown menu.
  • Scroll down to the offending post, and put a check in the box beside it (or them, if multiple posts).
  • Finally, scroll to the bottom of the page and hit the "split selected post(s)" button.

A solution to this problem is planned, so please be patient until we can implement it.

I thought you knew we had a 'no delete' policy here? It destroys our evidence.

Sorry, force of habit. :) I do moderation of a forum all day at work, I'm used to deleting single spam posts from users who never show up again. I usually remember I'm not supposed to do that here about 2 seconds after I click to confirm delete :)
